View Full Version : Ball sports
Should ball sports be aloud to play on duty for PT? If so which ones? Recently the department I work for just reinstated ball sports after 15 years of NO ball sports.
Game on!

Wiffle ball
Roller Hockey
What kinda BALLS get played within Vegas Baby! LOL
What kinda balls would you like to play with maddog20/20. Anything goes out here right? :D Get your Vegas on
I think the big one is basketball. This one is easy to pull off at any station. plus it'll get the old timer out of his recliner and he'll throw on his old faded dolphin pt shorts. He'll maybe even get his heart rate up and loose a couple pounds..... MAYBE.
I've heard of guys playing volley ball, whiffle ball, soccer on the "east side", dodge ball. So far it's been a crew integrity building experience, no injuries yet. But they will come as they did in the past.
Off the subject... Hey Maddog411, what's up with this Cooper guy? Bill is always on his nuts out here.

There are, of course, many Ball Sports that happen IN the recliner. Gross.

Are we talking about Josh Cooper??
Just wondering
Yes I believe that's who he's talking about (Josh). That Bill is a cute little bastard. He's always blowing up the "High Desert". He really loves his roots, good for him. I think he's even talked about a lifeguarding class with "Nuke".

I have got to say Josh Cooper was one of the Craziest Coolest MOFO's I had the peasure of working with (no offense to the Crazy Cool MOFO's I work with now). I believe Coop is working for the FEDs in Northern Cal somewhere. I'm sure someone on this site up north has a Coop sighting!!!!
Ya the "HIGH DEZ" holds some awesome stories where else can you bring an arsonal to work and be in service and drive out in Apple Valley and shoot for a while on the box??? Drive from Apple Valley to Victorville to take ALL the furniture out of a rival crews station and set it up perfectly the same in the rocks out front and I mean ALL the furniture. By the way a large "speaker magnet next to the GPS antenna makes you disappear off the screen in dispatch but, you didn't hear that from me. I coud go on for days.
Damn another idea for a new thread "PRANKS"
Sucks the old saying is true "with more money comes more responsibility"
Oh well, here is one for the POOR FUN CRAZY days
You guys from Hesperia and Apple Valley don't know true boredom till you go to the HIGH desert....Ridgecrest!! There you will find a new low of "things to do to not be bored" and "new and amazing ways to try to kill yourself with a pre-runner" The R/C is where it was at.....and Vegas doesn't hold a candle to it!! (Mucho de Sarcasm, by the way):)
And by the way, ball sports in the TV room...bad. Ball sports in the bay...fun. I just wish I wasn't sooooo white and could actually shoot a B-ball:D

Sports are good on all levels from competition, team building, to razzing the non-atheltic guy on sad it looks when you swing and miss horribly and fall on your **BLEEP****BLEEP****BLEEP**, theres that and running into the occasional parked car in the lot. "Dont hit muh Humma!"

Funny you should say something about a dented truck....I saw this NICE new chevy truck in the parking lot this morning.....with what looked to be a midget hand print in the side:D
Hey Ash, go EFF yourself! (LOL) Ya Cappy "the MIDGE"(from BIG Brother season 6 [He hates that by the way]) did dent my truck bed chasing a loose ball, playing back ramp fire house "B"-ball (way TOO competitive). C'mon man, there is such a thing as out of bounds, sh!t! Plus he dented the cooks truck! By the way, to Chevy Trucks...."Like a rock" my A$$!.
Hey Nuke,
Josh / Chief Cooper is now Chief 8580, chief of training out at The Fort. No more NorCal for him. He's back. The HD is like a magnet.
Way too many good times out there (In the HD) and I do miss it time to time. All my boys at the double duce and at MCLB. Good times, good times. I guess the VVFD Explorers are now SBCo explorers?
What's up with Fontucky? They were like "we're county... We're not county... We're county/ the new independent county"? Maybe the SBCity should annex Rialto, Fonta, (I know I spelled it Fonta), Highland, Cojan, Colton, Loma Linda.......... What were we talking about again? New Thread.... Don't drink and BLOG.;)

You know Girlie I have always respected a girl that like sports where balls fly at your face.
Sorry boys looks like I beat you all to this punch!!!!
Again HOTTIE I know men are all pigs, yata yata yata
P.S. Hey Girlmedic if promise to not be offended by my comments, I promise I won't be offended by the "queer" comment;)
P.S.S. Between typing this I ran a 4 pt assault with 1 stabbed up good and the MEDIC on AMR was the most unfriendly B^%TCH I have ran with since I have been down here, the name on the shirt was Lindsey out of Redlands Div.
Some one let her know I have a dollar to give her to buy a personality or better yet "GET THE F#$@CK out of EMS" if you are that miserable.

nobody knows about dented vehicles like i do....teenage drivers who don't know what they hit, wife-ola, little kids w/rocks, stupid m/c riders smashing mirrors off:mad::mad: scratches, etc......
Whoa! KungFooPanda. Take it easy on the "stupid m/c riders" on this website...I think they outnumber the non-m/c riders. Check the "$4.00 and rising" thread...I think there are too many of us getting "bikes" (motor or pedal) to be blaming the bikers...just keep the vehicle out of the bike lane.

Hey jude..don't be afraid.. what happened was my wife was sitting in the diamond lane w/all the kids. traffic on the 91 east was stopped in all lanes. m/c rider comes along and wiggles in and out of traffic, but comes upon the location where my wife and kids are stopped and he cannot get through because her vehicle and the one to the right are too close together for his handlebars/fairing to make it through. he didn't wait for traffic to move forward enough for the cars to pull to the side, so he reaches over and SMASHES OFF MY CAR'S MIRROR and proceeds to right off like the unmentionable item that he is.:eek::mad::mad:
hey, i'm just glad that he was able to get home on time (i pity the fool!) but he cost me $250 directly out of my pocket to cover the deductible and AAA paid out another $1400 to fix the car and pay for the rental car. not counting all the associated headache time spent getting it all lined up to take in and pick up.
nope. AAA said since she was not able to get any i/d on the guy (ca.d/l, plate #, name, etc.) that we had to pick up the deductible and it was not a non/under insured motorist issue. shame on AAA!
Okay, that guy deserves the "stupid m/c rider" title...if something not a bit more firm. Since this thread started about ball sports, I bet you felt like playing kick balls right then if you could have found the guy. Oh well, maybe he needed the mirror more than your wife needed it. You can always console yourself with the hope that he will always be able to look back (in your wife's mirror) and feel a sense of shame.
Forget playing with balls. How about a good old fashioned food fight in the kitchen.
When you are all done, follow up with..Hey Rook..Clean it up. :D
They did it to me. I'd like to do it to someone else.
Keep tradition alive I guess. LOL

I worked with this old timer aka "The Dude Man". He had a boneless fried chicken recipe called "flour bomb". It started off with him taking a hand full of flour and throwing it at the counter covering all the dishes and silverware. Mmm..Mmm..... Tasty but I hated that meal. Now that the "Dude Man" has retired someone has to keep the "TRADITION" going.
I guess this post could go on the "Recipe" or "Fireman vs. Firefighter" thread?
Anybody hoop it up at work lately?
How about a little raquetball for a ball sport. Our shift plays almost every day! But keep in mind if you are competitive at all and never played raquetball, you will lose a few raquets in the process and they do get expensive. I've been through about 10 raquets and counting! But its still pretty fun, and a greta cardio work out.:mad:
Oh and for having some fun around the station we have some sort of food fight, water fight, or any other items you can think of to throw at eachother that wont break bones when they hit you pretty regularly. But remember before you start 30 seconds of fun eqaul 30+ min. of clean up.:eek:
We had a ball sport "incident" out here recently....getting caught!!! Uh Oh!! Skin-o-max...

I like it when storm troopers ball up white rice the size of a raquetball and throw it at my bicept leaving a welt.... fun times.
I said I was sorry about that, I thought it would explode but it stuck together. Next time I wont ball it up so tight so it will explode.

Wear your goggles...you may look like Kareem Abdul Jabar, but at least you will avoid a serious eye injury.
