Why do so many departments put "City" in their title? Obviously the guys in the cities of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and L.A., etc. do because there is an actual county and department with the same name. Ontario I buy because there is a province in Canada with the same name and most of us are part of the IAFF. Is there a "Rialto County" or a "Chino Valley County", etc.? Of course it would be redundant if the guys at Culver City had stickers that said "City of Culver City City Fire". If you work for a city that doesn't have a county named after it, why would you waste the words to say, "I work for Rialto City fire", as opposed to just saying, "I work for Rialto fire". (I'm not trying to pick on Rialto or any cities that rhyme with bialto, I just saw one of their stickers the other day and it got me wondering). Most of us know what is a city or county in most of the areas, and I can't think of any county fire department that doesn't say that they are the L.A. County or the Orange County fire department/authority. Just wondering...

Here in Vegas, we have got 4 different agencies in the Valley. LVFR (City), Clark County (County, duh!?!), North Las Vegas (North Town) and Henderson (Henderson). When asked who I work for, I just say "City" Dunno why, it isn't on our stickers or seal or anything, because we are offically "Las Vegas Fire & Rescue" (although it has been said that the "R" stands for Red:)).
Maybe guys say "City of Rialto" for example, because SBCF is SOOO big, they just wanna make the point they aren't County (Not that there is anything wrong with the County mind you, because let's face it, this site could be called SBCF 911)
Oh jude, thanks for the reference to "Bialto" ROFLMAO!!

Hey guys. Good to be back home. I just had nice little run up north to all the action, although we did not get much ourselves.

Maybe people just like the word "city". so what? It's not a big deal. I hear guys use it all the time.
