Nice attitude, Hope no one ever has a beef with your kids if you have any. I guess you don't really take that oath of helping every God’s creatures to heart. You might want to reassess your values.

livin in gods country,
Well I am there to help people. But when some dirt bags dog come at me or he him self comes at my crew then yes it is them or us. When it comes down to it we are a crew and we come first. And as far as gods creatures....I did not swear any oath to him or his creatures.....I am there to do a job and help people. If they treat me a certain way then that is what they get back. How many times have you run into issues in peoples houses with some crazy dog...pit bull. A lot of times they are bread that way intentionally. If that dog was coming at him and he reacted then good for him. I was asking the details so I could better understand what happened. A guys life and career could be over because of a stupid animal that might have attacked him. Maybe he did take it too far because he was worked up....like I saw in another post with the rock. I don't believe it warrents 4 years in prison.
As far as the kid comment I'm not sure what you meant by that but let put it this way. if anybody would hurt my kid they would be dead regardless of consequences even if they are "one of gods creatures" and if anybody went at a member of my crew on a call they would be put down....and I would expect every one of my brothers behind me.
Don't come at me with your beliefs and say I need to reassess my values. My beliefs may be different than yours!

Dear Animal Hater

I think you have your head up your a** . This was not in a low income area the residents were not as you referred to as scumbags. The Dog dug from it's owner's property through this animal-beaters property and into an adjoining neighbor's property. A neighbor was returning the licensed dog to it's owner when Mr.Helper-animal beater decided to take control of the scene and return the animal himself because being a Chief he could do it better than anyone else. The dog had history with this jerk and was pulling away when he decided to go caveman and beat the sh** out of this puppy with a boulder.

I wonder why Mr.Animal-beater is on admin. leave? The District Attorney has filed and the whole State of California is up in arms over the incident with the exception of your dumb A**.

P1000,
Just so we are clear I believe I used the term dirtbags and not scum bags as you stated...but if you would like we can use the descriptive "mope". Its not that I hate animals ....I just think people are more important.....yes even those mopes we were talking about. Its not only low income people that can be "mopes" there are rich ones too. I bet he had a history with this dog. I bet it had issues in the past and isn't this sweet little puppy that everybody wants to think. So on one side we have a guy who is in a respected position in the community and the other side we have an animal. Right off the bat these crazy animal lovers want to side with the animal. I don't know the story and I thought it happened on duty. I hope it happened in his yard because then nobody can say a thing. It is his yard! Those people should have done a better job keeping kujo in his yard. I highly doubt this guy for nooooo reason at all went...what did you call it?...."caveman" on the dog. Have some respect for a guy who has climbed through the ranks dealing with "mopes" maybe like yourself for his whole career.

I'm with you JK78.

You other guys are giving the dog more credit than the Chief. How do you know that the dog did not start mauling his arms as he was carrying it.

Give the Chief some brotherhood courtesy. You guys are talking about hanging this guy out to dry after a long career in the FD. What if he told ya'll that the dam dog was gettin' all lock jaw and shizit.

People are people....
Animals are animals...
If you have such a huge passion for animals over people (P1000 & others) then I recommend this other, really cool department in your city or county that you might want to check out. It's called "animal control"... That way you could go help animals & let us "caveMEN", help people and or "mopes"... (BTW, I like the "mopes" reference. Old school H-Town).

Here's my slight gripe. I can't stand the Liberal Media showing the picture of the dog when it was a PUPPY. The pic they are using is a cute little puppy!!! Not of how big the dog was at the time of the incident. Media is already putting the Chief at a disadvantage publicly. As far as the incident I won't comment because I wasn't there, however if a dog attacks me or my wife or son while we are out walking or jogging. I will have VERY little mercy on the dog. If a dog/s are OUT roaming and NOT controlled by their owner and more importantly AGGRESSIVE dogs. They need to go down!!!
As Bob Barker says have your pets SPAYED and NEUTERED.

we should have all fire peeps go through AST (Animal Sensitivity Training) by the Cheez. once many years ago, sbfd went on veg fire that was impinging on several abandonned trailers. the Cheez saw a chained up dog (large pit bull type) through the smoke that was hunkering down and thinking '"i'm gonna die..." the dog was already smoldering when Cheez dove underneath the trailer to unchain the dog and bring him to safety.

ALL LARGE TONGUE LICKS TO THE CHEEZ!!!

We had a guy hitting a flaming rabbit with a shovel like it was a golf ball on a brush fire....if I remember right the pic was in the paper of him doing it! lol maybe I am remembering it wrong. Do you remember that 301? Either way it will piss off the people haters....I mean animal lovers

I agree with you 301. I was not there. I can't imagine a guy making it to that point in the rank structure and having uncontrollable rage like that. If you have made it that far in the fire service and not killed some of the guys your working with your pretty stable. I do think it is crap how everybody is turning on him right away and it is being manipulated by the media.

Most of you guys are dead wrong about this chief. He was MY chief for 4 years. He was awful as a person, average as a firefighter. Memorabilia missing from our station all the time. Discipline problems his entire career. Stole pages or defaced business journals twice and got away with it. Threw the race card and fought like a tiger on that point. All his PR in the press was bullshit. He claimed to be the first black AC in our department. Blatant lie. Herschel Clady, Bobby Lee, Reggie Lee, Daryl Osby, Dan Scott, Floyd Hoffman and Joe Graham, hell he was promoted to AC with Graham. Count 'em, that's 7. Claims to be a Haz-Mat expert yet did absolutely nothing for the department in Hazmat or our working terrorism group. Did no special projects or staff time as a BC and was the senior BC on our department when he was promoted. Admitted to me he smacked his daughter enough to get cops involved to get arrested, anger management and all that. He even had major disagreements with the head of the Stentorians (black firefighters assn). They sent a letter to the family that owned the dog disavowing their association with them. There is a group of retired firemen who knew him his whole career that are helping the family with legal fees for the civil suit. It seems like his only supporters are his family and people who don't really know him. NOBODY was surprised that his behavior got him where he is now. Most of us wish the county had the balls to put him in his place when they had the chance, instead legal counsel advised the board of supervisors and FC to give in. Beating that dog the way he did is a symptom of the rot in his soul. So if you think you are taking some high moral ground just because he wore a badge you will look like a fool. He only wore a badge, he didn't live it.

DAMN! Wish I was right on this one....lol. Well 50 50 chance and I was on the wrong side. lol. Well thanks for the facts on this guy. Guess we all now know the facts from the guys who knew and worked with him. Still I didn't like how it could have been any one of us in a situation and people...animal lovers could give a crap less about people. This situation I may have been wrong but I still stand behind the content of my posts.

I don't think his sitch could have been any one of us. As I tried to describe him, he was "unique". We had a guy do a back kick on a dog at a rescue, a small dog. It killed the dog but the owners were okay with it. Why?, he had made entry to a home for a rescue on an unconscious person. He was genuinely apologetic and was forgiven by the family of the victim. We can get away with a lot on the job, but like it or not, we're held to a higher standard off duty than most people and I'm okay with it.
