Hey Tuff guy, If you think that someone catching on fire is funny, than you are a sad human being. These poor people are obviously homeless, have had a hard time living out in the cold. ...and when they catch on fire you laugh?

That is not very compassionate. I'm sure that the Las Vegas City Fire guys did not think it was as funny as you when they came on the scene.

Get a heart and remember why you chose this profession.

And yes 301, my Dad would be proud of those last comments.

Never mind I found what you are talking about and it was LVLADDER you needed to address, wasn't me.

Hmmm... Thanks bus driver 301... (Just Kidding brother).

Girlmedic, I'm sure your dad is VERY proud of you ...
I don't think tuffstuff thinks it's funny that people burned but the tittle of the story does make ones face crack.
When you finally get picked up, you'll see that firemen have a sort of twisted sense of humor. It's kinda how we deal with tough emotional situations with each other. I know you're probably thinking that you run on some of the same calls we do, (being on the box & all), but it's different and you'll never have any idea until your pops pins that badge on your chest.

One of the worst calls I ever ran before moving to Vegas was a trailer that exploded & we had 3 burn patients. (one died 48 hours later). Since my tenure in Vegas I can't tell you how many burnt up people & bodies I've ran on.
Bums trying to stay warm at night or a hot crack pipe that sets their mattress on fire. Then there's the bums that set each other on fire because one bum stole the others cigarettes, 40 oz. or *p-o-r-n* mag. (that one happens a lot more then you'd think) Brings a whole new meaning to "bum fights".

Settle down Girlmedic. I'm not the one that titled the article. I just found it to be cleverly funny. You've been pretty cool in all of your previous posts, why the change in attitude and aggressiveness lately?

Learn a lesson from the legandary "HOTTIE4FYR" and let boys be boys and leave the moral policing to the kangaroo court.

Thank You BUS DRIVER TuffStuff....

Dearest GirlMedic,

I would like to let you know that I was not being "insensitive" when I gave the story that title.

It was my way of delivering subtle humor to the incident. Sorry to have offended you, but I do agree with LVLadder - when you get more time in the fire service, you'll understand that we never really mean to be insensitive, we just deal with stress in a different manner; a manner that is not normally understood by the layman. Once entrenched in our unique culture, you'll understand what I mean.

Anyhow, thanks for expressing your view points. Thanks for being a part of our Fire Service community website.

By the way, you are not anything like the infamous "hottie4fire". :)

Is there any way we can bring Hottie4Fire back. Ya know, the good ol' days. Its like going back to an ex girlfriend. You despise her at the time, a little time passes and you become a little sentimental, maybe just a quick fling.

Yep... That's the one. I can't really remember what calls I ran on yesterday but I remember this one vividly.
I was all jacked up to be going on a fire call. We could see the header from the base. Me & my partner (Eddie N.) were wide eyed & giving thumbs ups. We had no idea what was going on because we were in the reserve engine (Duplex) open cab with no david clarks. When we got there I meet the capt. (acting capt. Ruben) at his door and he told me that we had the burn victims... I thought burns victims... That sucks, how bad could they be? I walked around the engine & saw 2 dudes standing in the "Frankenstein" position moaning with skin hanging off their faces, arms & chest. As I walked still fully turned out with SCBA to go render aide, a Yermo volley stopped me and said. "he bro, you guys got the bad one over there."
This poor guy (J. R. still remember his name) was sitting in the dirt completely naked except for the leather belt that was holding on to a few belt loops from his levis and the soles of his shoes had melted to his feet.
His groin (Ck & Bls) were still on fire . All 3 patients were flown out. My patient asked me to shoot him several times.
The call went as well as it could've except I do remember a bit of a turf battle between the mercy & the desert crew.
I could go on & on... Blah blah blah...... long story longer, is that the one you were thinking of GK?

That'd be the one Bill. I was still an EMT and the Mercy deal was with my medic and I. They were lollygaggin around. We were pissed Because we called them to get these guys to a burn center pronto. Not to sit around on scene and play peenuckle. We were the second ambulance on scene and the two younger guys were our pts. I remember pulling on scene and seeing them with their arms stretched out like bats screaming. It was a bad deal thats for sure.

Rubens my engineer... We were just talking about this call last week actually. He mentioned you and Eddie.

Oh, and thank God we finaly got rid of that Duplex. We have an open cab Pierce from Pendleton now as a reserve. Were getting a new Pierce Velocity next month. Ill definately send you some pics. I guess its the most expensive engine the corps ever bought. They actually let us customize it if you can believe that.

RedBloodedAmerican and MedicMatt,

You guys are so funny. It was a hard run wasn't it?

Much of the WestCoast911 membership emailed me or PM'd and asked that she be banned.
Although we have our suspicions of who we think she is when we run calls in the Inland Empire, I have yet to pinpoint which AMR girl it is.

F-DUB claims he knows.

This time around, let's just remember that she too is entitled to her opinion, no matter how off base we think it may be.

I'll send her an email and let her know that the ban will be lifted.

Nope, just Firemen that have some fun needling eachother. For the most part, MOST of the peeps on here know each other (the Fire service is a small place). Also most of us are from the Inland Emipire and if you have a BAD attitude or have a crappy attitute on calls or come on here and start throwing lawn darts at people be ready to back it up. I appreciate the fact you put your picture on here so we know who you are (and believe me most of us know who you are). Learn from HOTTIE4FIRE and don't come on here just simply "running your mouth" with nothing positive to add to posts. This is a unique place that can make you friends or enemies. Obviously HOTTIE started nice and then the REAL P.O.S. came out, and she was kicked to the curb.

Best advice I can give is on the FIRE forums let Firemen be Firemen (you know the pigs we are) Just don't come in here and get all "ALPHA-FEMALE" on us.

And on the EMS forums let EMS be EMS.

Other than that WELCOME, from the boys at 227A.

thats funny... I dont think I will be throwing any type of sharp objects on here. And no I would never step in the way of you boys being firemen. My husband thought this site was cool and told me to sign up and I know its Chile's site, otherwise I have no real motives. I put my actual pic on here so guys would stop asking if I was this hottie chick, doesnt seem like many other people put faces to their names. Its kind of a bummer that a lot of you guys thought she was me... but hey you guys are all free to have your opinion of me. Thanks for the welcome boys on 227A. I would say I will see ya out there soon... but I know the life at "para-dice Lucky 7's" means I may not get to see you guys face to face for a while. Stay safe out there in the city.

Spoken like a guy that OBVIOUSLY doesn't know me or has EVER worked with me. There are a ton of guy's on here that have and do work with me and if you think you know me from what you read on here you are mistaken!!! I just call it like I see it and if that offends or angers peeps then it is what it is. As for the "NEXT DEPARTMENT OVER" I think I have covered that one many times, and for "AMBULANCE PEEPS" I dig the ones that do their job and aren't slugs with BAD attitides, unfortunately I only run across a very few on our THOUSANDS of calls a year that work hard and have GREAT attitudes (and then they get hired by City FD ) and get a new batch of AMR peeps. There are some great AMR peeps out there and I tell them every chance I get that THEY did a GREAT job.

I knew you wouldn't let that one sit for long 301....:D. It doesn't matter who works for what or where! A turd is a turd and they need to be called out! Some people have problems and hurt feelings with that.....too bad. Do your job and if you suck at it you will hear about it. The problem with some of the private people is they have no mentoring or peer evauation. They get that from fire then we become....what is it?? cocky dicks who don't get along with people. Well thats life. Your right about one thing though if they are worth anything they will get hired by a city......or COUNTY! Don't forget about us there 301.:p

I think these forums can be so much better than they have been.

301.... The other individual just tried to make the young lady feel at ease. I don't think his intent was to incite an attack from a brother.

I also think that there is no need to have a stick waving contest with a San Jose Firefighter. Check the stats they run "THOUSANDS" as well.

Happy New Year

Hey 301, why are you always jamming everyone up? Try to be a little less AGGRO. We all know your a busy department, you dont have to brag about how busy you are....especially to a San Jose guy, those guys look like they really kick a$$.

Mr 301,
Good job on getting things rolling around here, it was getting kind of dull.

I happen to work with a guy that knows you from back in his SoCal days. He's always bring up stories about this fire department or that fire department. I really can't stand it when people always bring up their "old" job.

Anyway FireMedic301, you have brought up how many calls your department runs on a couple occasions. Good for you, I'm glad you're proud but I'm not sure 26K for 10 or sometimes 11 stations is really that extremely busy. Maybe it is? Our central station runs 20K. That's ONE station. Our (LVFD) Station 10 has an engine and a rescue. It runs around 9K, thats 6 guys running almost 1/3 your total volume.

I was just a little surprised to see you call out a San Jose FF. They are a really busy FD, no reason to go there. Sounds like you might still have issues with your "OLD" department?

firemedic301
02-01-09, 21:26
When I wrote that, I in NO way was trying to say WE run more calls then San Jose, sorry METHOD if it came off that way. It was to reference how many calls we run with AMR and the vast variety of AMR peeps we run with, and when I wrote it I really wasn't "BRAGGING" just made a statement, sorry for ruffling some panties. I guess I saw it as METHODMAN "JAMMING" me up, saying I TREAT AMR personnel BADLY, which again is FAR from the truth, I treat them with HUGE respect until THEIR actions show they don't deserve respect.

I can tell you this, on this board I have not "JAMMED" up anybody that I don't know or have worked with personally (OK other than CJofHB and HOTTIE:rolleyes:). As for being LESS aggro, there are many times I use restraint when posting on here. I absolutely know almost ALL my chiefs and peers read this board and they know who I am, so I make sure I state facts and personal knowledge when posting on here or "JAMMING" someone up.

Also, I make it a point not to DEFEND somebody I don't know from somebody else I don't know, they may have issues or history I don't know about and in the end it is me that could look bad - read into that what you will METHOD.

GOOD thing about this last exchange is at least it is getting people to watch the board to see what will happen next. Chili needs the boost in stats.

ok ya'll I just wanted to clarify something. Although I appreciate those of you that were sticking up for the "young lady", I didnt take what 301 was saying as an attack at all. I totally agree with the fact that there are a lot of amr people who are lazy and burnt out, espescially in my division. Ive been on an ambulance for 7 years and I love what I do. I dont know who 301 is so I cant say if he "jams" people up on calls or not but I can say the amount of nice guys is pretty high vs the guys that treat us like poo.

I didnt ask for any storm. I simpley came on here to show the city guys that I am no hottie4fire. And I would think that being on an ambulance in the 70's (although I wasnt born for another 13 YEARS!) is slightly different than 2009. Ya know... no glass IVs or bamboo iv caths! ( joking :D joking) but please, there is no need to take offense to anything I have said on this silly thing. And I do pay ATTENTION during passdowns from you. In fact... I can remember every detail of the last call I ran with you SIR! Can you? I come from a long life of EMS in my family. My father has been a firefighter paramedic going on 30 years and my husband is a ffpm as well (hence my silly screen name). Much to the opposite of many opinions in the city... I am not a FIRE HATER. I was raised in this service and played on engine bay floors before I could even walk. If some of your guys would just relax and give me a chance before attempting to belittle my very existance or "punk" the "amr girl" I bet you may even like me a little! And as for newcomers balls... Challenge accepted!!!! BWAH- HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! He who forgets the past is doomed to repeat it, P1000. EVERY weapon you can use will be met with something larger and more deadly. Yes, we will both end up in the hospital.... but you'll just stay LONGER!!!!!

301 = I recommend a healthy man-hug AND a mild head-butt. Next cycle.

fyrwife/medic = Hang in there. It's character-building to withstand the onslaught of these guys. They're ruthless but they'll watch your back when you prove yourself. The key is to be able to do as one says. This profession does not allow ANYONE to get away with just talk. Ambulance work is honorable and a stepping stone to the fire service. One's behavior is always on stage. Offer respect. Give respect. Expect respect. Simple to say but difficult to master. Please re-read this paragraph two more times.

RedBloodedAmerican = I didn't know you were a study in Marshmallow Weaponry. I was unaware that the little suckers were ramped up to welt-making speeds. Please provide more info. I'm curious (and I need as much firepower as possible if I'm going to survive the impending a$$ kicking from P1000 that looms in my future).

Taylor Made = Keeping Steve in line is a task unto itself. Policing our own, as you well know, is a trail strewn with broken glass and rusty nails. Besides, Steve is taller than me! Yes, I've read Jack Welsh (geez, you know me pretty well). Have you read any Dennis Prager?

desertmedic = I need PICTURES!!! Oh, pleeease tell me you have pictures of Steve's voyage into tramp-stampiness. Even if it's photo-shopped. I can offer beer.....

Cheers!
