Mira Loma (myfoxla.com) - A Riverside County fire truck and another vehicle collided today in the Mira Loma area, fatally injuring the occupant of the smaller vehicle, authorities said.

The accident was reported shortly after 5 a.m. at Etiwanda Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Riverside County fire Capt. Julie Hutchinson said one person in the passenger vehicle was killed and two firefighters suffered "moderate" injuries.

The circumstances of the collision were under investigation. The fire truck was on its way to a call for service when the collision occurred, said fire Capt. Fernando Herrera.

I just watched the video on the west coast home page. That sucks so bad. You just know that the engine driver feels so horrible even if he may not have been at fault.

Didn't realize that until someone posted it up over there. Hope the guys are ok, I hate when this type of stuff happens. You know how this turns out for the fire department and the pain the family must be going through from the loss.

Yeah. I donated blood to the Upland engineer when his engine got wadded up a couple of years ago. I sure hope Pizz and his crew is okay.

Our lead instructor for Engineer Candidate School (ECS), has a lawyer friend in SoCal that saw this on a "lawyer blog". Though it was interesting.

Ambulance chasers... I guess situations like this should make us aware while driving code 3/R. Anyone have any further on what the MAIT investigation turned up?
